grads & clock

If you are considering recruiting graduates this year but have not quite got round to putting the wheels in motion, we are here to reassure you that there is still time to act! Now is actually an opportune moment to attract exceptional graduates to your business. Why? Find out our top 3 reasons here:

  • Only a few ‘uni days’ remain

Assignments submitted, exams completed and bank accounts depleted, time is of the essence now for final year students wanting to enter the world of work. Many will have already secured graduate jobs, but there will still be plenty who are now stringently focusing on researching employers, submitting applications and doing everything they can to secure a great graduate opportunity.

  • Employees are on the look-out for new opportunities

The CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development)/Halogen Employee Outlook, which surveyed more than 2,000 people, found that almost a quarter of employees are currently looking for a new job, up from 20 per cent in autumn 2015. So if you’re looking for someone with a little more experience, attracting them to your business could be easier than you imagined.

  • Returning to a candidate-driven market

Whilst a candidate-driven market puts you head to head with your competitors, it’s also a great opportunity for you to really establish what makes your employment opportunities so brilliant. We often speak to companies who have brilliant ‘added extras’ that make their business a great place to work, yet they just do not shout about them. Do you offer breakfast once a week? Do you organise regular social events? Are you passionate about CSR? What charities do you support? If so, tell your audience through your job advert/careers webpage. It is these things, which may seem minor to you, that attract candidates and make them feel excited about working for you.

If you start to move things along now, you will still have plenty of time to plan the recruitment and selection process and get everything in place for your graduates to start in August or September. As ever, if you would like any advice or simply an informal chat about your graduate recruitment, please do not hesitate to contact us.
