Recent graduates have plenty to celebrate after graduate employers have increased their budgets and vacancies, leading to starting salaries hitting a huge £30,000 for the very first time.
A recent report published by High Fliers found that graduates are benefiting from even more opportunities this year, with graduate recruitment finally overtaking the 2007 pre-recession peak.
A 10 year boom for graduates
The report also found that 2015 would in fact see the highest number of graduate vacancies at any one time since 10 years ago.
2014 witnessed a 7.9% increase in the number of graduates hired by the Times Top 100 Graduate Employers, with starting salaries reaching £30,000.
However, placements are set to rise further this year, increasing by 8.1% as the UKs leading graduate employers increase their budgets in search for the best talent.
The survey also found that 700 vacancies across all firms were left unfilled despite the high demand for talent, indicating a positive labour market for recent university leavers.
Hunting for talent
As a result, prospective employers are hunting down graduates themselves by targeting the universities of Cambridge, Nottingham, Oxford, Manchester and Warwick.
In fact, the next 12 months will see the likes of Teach First, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte offering more than 1,000 vacancies, making them the largest graduate recruiters in Britain.
The research also found that banking and law sectors currently offer the highest average salary at £40,000.
However salaries are on the increase in a number of other sectors too, with more than a quarter of graduate roles offering more than £35,000.
Interestingly, the highest starting graduate salary of £42,000 is being offered by the supermarket chain Aldi.
The research also looked into internships and the importance of work experience and revealed that both have become hugely important within recruitment processes, with a staggering 13,049 paid positions available.
