Who is Discovery?

The Discovery Team has been designing and delivering development programmes for organisations across the UK for over 22 years. We regularly partner with businesses across all sectors, including: manufacturing, distribution, engineering, FMCG, retail and pharma. Our expertise spans technically & commercially oriented workforces.

We are an approved training organisation for the Institute of Sales Professionals, an Institute of Leadership and Management approved training centre, active members of the Institute of Student Employers, and approved to deliver apprenticeships by the Institute for Apprenticeships.

Our programmes are tailored to suit each individual learner. Every programme is aligned to the Apprenticeship Standards, meaning you will gain a Level 5 certificate upon completion of your learning.

EMERGING LEADERS PROGRAMME – 
Assistant Store Managers

The programme is a catalyst for change. Designed for those with limited experience in leadership and management, we know that with a better understanding of yourself you will learn to inspire and lead others, gaining skills & knowledge to develop exceptional leadership capability, and advance your career.

Aligned to the Operations/Departmental Manager Level 5 apprenticeship standard, the ‘Emerging Leaders’ programme is designed to provide high-potential, future leaders with the skills, knowledge and behaviours that will stretch you and help you to reach your full potential.

EMPOWERED LEADERS PROGRAMME – 
Store Managers

You may have been managing teams for many years and possibly with limited leadership development during your career to date. This programme will provide you with essential knowledge, skills & insight to directly improve your effectiveness as a leader and build upon everything you already know.

The Empowered Leaders Programme is designed to develop those who manage already, empowering you to be the best possible version of yourselves that you can be, as well as guiding others to succeed, develop and reach their own potential.

During our programmes, you will experience:

FAQ’s

How do apprenticeships work?

Modern apprenticeships are an amazing way of developing yourself. Our programmes are aligned to apprenticeship standards, but we go beyond the standards to make sure you will gain life-defining change.

Traditional Apprenticeships have changed – they’re now a great development pathway for every level of seniority.

From your initial induction day right through to the end of the qualification, our certified coaches will support you through a range of methods to develop the ‘whole’ you. You’ll be assigned a personal coach for the duration of the programme to really get to the core of your development areas.

Our approach is interactive, hands-on, practical, and fun! Through blended learning, we use classroom sessions to explore theory, together with experiential activities and ‘learning in action’ to allow you put the knowledge into practice so you can apply it directly back into the workplace.

What is off-the-job training?

As part of an apprenticeship, learners will need to spend 20% of their working week completing off-the-job learning. Off-the-job learning is time spent on learning & development outside of a learner’s normal working duties, but during their normal working hours. We call this applied learning.

This is essentially time that is put aside for you to focus on improving or learning new areas of knowledge, skills and behaviours back in the business.

Off-the-job learning is hugely beneficial! It can be very easy to attend a training programme, learn lots and then return to ‘business as usual’ afterwards. Setting aside 20% of a working week encourages you to keep developing yourselves as professionals.

But let’s be realistic – this does not mean 20% all in one go. This 20% is brought to life in the course of your normal duties when you put the learning into action back in your business.

Some examples of Off the Job Training are: Individual study or reflection time, attending webinars and online events, roleplay, or workplace stimulations, mentoring/shadowing a colleague, and many more. We will guide you through this as we go through the programme, but the most important element is your commitment to your development and improvement.

How long do the programmes last?

Your learning will take place over 18 months for our Level 5 programmes, followed by up to 4 months which is used to complete your portfolio, and prepare for your End Point Assessment (EPA).

How will the training be delivered? Where will the workshops take place?

For all the programmes we adopt a ‘blended learning’ model of delivery. The start of your journey will begin with a virtual induction session. You will then attend five 2-day workshops over the duration of the Paperchase programmes, along with virtual sessions, masterclasses, webinars, and of course, your personal coaching sessions.

The workshops will be delivered from your Paperchase Studios in London.
